Against A Crooked Sky

 You Decorated My Life

One of my favorite older songs that Kenny Rogers sang!

Kenny Rogers, You Decorated My Life.

All my life was a paper once plain, pure and white
Till you moved with your pen changin' moods now and then
Till the balance was right
Then you added some music, ev'ry note was in place
And anybody could see all the changes in me by the look on my face

And you decorated my life, created a world where dreams area apart
And you decorated my life by paintin' your love all over my heart
You decorated my life

Like a rhyme with no reason in an unfinished song
There was no harmony life meant nothin' to me, until you cam along
And you brought out the colors, what a gentle surprise
Now I'm able to see all the things life can be shinin' soft in your eyes

And you decorated my life, created a world where dreams are a part
And you decorated my life by paintin' your love all over my heart
You decorated my life

***I think we can all say that we have or had someone that did just that!

 Running Fast

Tonight I was running fast, and there was no where to go!
Remember when the kids used to have one of those little pets called gerbels? You know they run on this little wheel and just really go fast, and work those little short legs, and look around like they are just wired! Or sometimes they had these clear balls, and you could put Gerb in there, and wow could he go. Running fast, and getting nowhere!

Well I feel a lot like that little fella -- running fast and getting no where.

My sister had a total knee replacement about 5 weeks ago now. Well she is doing really well, but has all this energy because she has been "home bound" because of her knee recuperation, and the blizzard snowing us in. Well, I had a weak moment, and felt sorry for her, and said okay I will do this with you along with the diet. But I draw lines on certain things! I have to have my half/half in my coffee you know!! Well, we were doing all this exercise equipment they have in their basement, and we were like 2 gerbals just running and running and did not move!

We went back upstairs, and I was so hungry I could have eaten anything -- I exercised you know, so therefore, I can eat.
Wrong! My sister had this plan all figured out and what we are going to do, etc. I just sat there in my chair trying to remember she is just an invalid now, coming off of a total knee replacement surgery.

As I sat there, I remembered about that little "guy" who ran his little wheel, just hurrying and hurrying and and looking all around, and just getting no where. I can identify.

As I was leaving her house tonight, I said you know, this is really me, but someone else is inhabiting this body, and does not want to leave because they like it very well!

Hey! Where's the Snickers!

 Friendship

I received an email from a friend I worked with many years ago. We have just recently "found" each other again after all these years have gone by. I value her friendship so much. She has been in my heart over the years even when we lost track of where each of us was living.

Friendships are valuable. We live in this world, and it is so easy to look around and see how terrible things have become, especially since I grew up anyway. But then I remember how I always heard adults say to me when I was growing up....Don't stop reaching out, don't stop caring, don't let things get you down. You may be just the one who can start a whole chain of events that can lead to changing the way things go in this world.

I have read several wonderful blogs tonight. I must say, we have a lot of very special people out there putting their thoughts and emotions in a form that we can share it too. It is wonderful that we can create friendships by visiting our friends right here.

 Be Still

Those two little words have a great message.

Be Still

The blizzard has caused our world here to "Be Still."
Usually Saturday is a filled with business and catching up from the past week, and preparing for the next. But, the blizzard of 2008 has made a definite impact on us.

BE STILL

Be still and reflect on what is most important.
Be still and reach out to those who are dear to you.
Be still and think about good things.
Be still and be at peace!
Be still and do not be afraid.
Be still and look at things in a new way.
Be still and watch the snow fall from your window.
Be still and listen to the wind blowing in the trees.
Be still and listen to the neighbors taking the time for each other they normally don't do -- because we are in a situation that is slowing us down and helping us look at things in a more constructive way.
Be still and be content.
Be still and be positive.
Be still and be thankful.
Be still and make this day a special one.

 Blizzard

It is March isn't it? I am getting a bit confused!

We are in the middle of yet another bad snow storm. Tomorrow we are predicted to have strong winds and blizzard conditions. I think I will just stay inside, and stand at the window and growl like a big old brown bear as the blizzard swirls around. I do hope my electric will stay on. The other day I was without power, but it was not too terribly long. One of my friends was 2 days without electric, and she is like me, she works from home on the computer.

But you never know what each day will bring to you. We learn that early in our lives. You know when you are young you plan for something exciting, and then maybe you get sick. Then when you are a teenager and there is a big party, and your cousins come to visit, and you cannot go. So we face unexpected events in life.

I think it is good when we learn early on to have plan B just in case plan A does not go as you would have it planned. So I will just sit in my comfortable world, and kick my feet up and watch an old movie or just read. I think that calls for a cup of hot tea too! Want to join me? I hope it is cozy in your world!
