 Laugh with me!!

A friend of mine sent with the funniest email. It is called "Spread the Stupidity." Anne has just officially retired from teaching school, so she probably knows first-hand how that is. I truly laughed until I cried reading her email.

Laughter is wonderful. I would much rather laugh than cry wouldn't you!! Laughter is medicine to the soul and that is very true.
It is such a treat to get an email like that at the end of a very long day. I know we don't laugh as much as we should -- especially now. When we take in all the high prices and what it takes just to live -- it is so helpful to just laugh. How about I share it with you ... probably most of us have received this, but here it is ... let's laugh!

Spread the Stupidity

Only in America ......do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to the back of
the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.

Only in America ......do people order
double cheeseburgers, large fries, and a diet coke.

Only in America ......do banks leave both doors open and then chain the pens to the counters.

Only in America ......do we leave cars
worth thousands of dollars in the
driveway and put our useless junk in the garage.

Only in America ......do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in packages of eight.

Only in America ......do we use the word 'politics' to describe the process so well: 'Poli' in Latin meaning 'many' and 'tics' meaning 'bloodsucking creatures'.

Only in America ......do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering.

EVER WONDER ....

Why the sun lightens our hair,
but darkens our skin ?

Why women can't put on mascara with their mouth closed?

Why don't you ever see the headline 'Psychic Wins Lottery'?

Why is 'abbreviated' such a long word?

Why is it that doctors call what they do 'practice'?

Why is lemon juice made with artificial flavor, and dishwashing liquid made with real lemons?

Why is the man who invests all your money called a broker?

Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour?

Why isn't there mouse-flavored cat food?

Why didn't Noah swat those two mosquitoes?

You know that indestructible black box that is used on airplanes? Why don't they make the whole plane out of that stuff?!

Why don't sheep shrink when it rains? < BR>

Why are they called apartments when
they are all stuck together?

If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of progress?

If flying is so safe,
why do they call the airport the terminal?

Now that you've smiled at least once, it's your turn to spread the stupidity and send this to someone you want to bring a smile to (maybe even a chuckle)...in other words, send it to everyone. We all need to smile every once in a while.

 1391

1391 is the number for today. It means something to me, but to no one else.

Have you noticed lately how numbers are taking over our life.

One of my friends has a cat and he called him "7"

Another friend has a dog and called him "15"

Then there is the phrase we always hear 24/7.

I won't even try to tackle the phone messages the kids leave.

I still like words and phrases....I love good old fashioned
communication. I love to read letters I love to type and/or write words on paper or on the computer. I love communication.

I am not into the numbers thing very much.

There was the show 24 and I watched it once -- it made me crazy. I kept hearing that 24 count down and I thought I needed to jump up and run. Ha!

I know that things change and many times what goes around comes around....I am just holding on tight because I think (personally my opinion only) that we have too much to offer to bring it down to

Hi "7"

I like Hi friend!! How is life treating you today?

 The Pet Next Door

My friend, Rex, the pet next door has been having early morning travels much to his owner's dismay and mine too!!
I have to work on Sunday, so I was involved with work, and my doorbell rang. I ran downstairs and this really nice lady was there, and asked me if I had lost a little white dog. I said, is he a bull dog? She said, Yes he is. I said, well he is not mine and he belongs to Keith next door, but I am his stand in mama when Keith is gone. She said, well he is at the house and we left him food and water, so go by any time and you can collect him.

I ran back upstairs, clocked out and jumped in my van, as it was once more a day started with collecting Rex. The last 2 Fridays he ran off. This past Friday I was up and down the roads, walking in the woods, asking the mail person to watch, the Fed Ex to watch and anyone I saw along the way who might see him. Finally after my efforts were exhausted and I was beside myself with concern, I drove to the Humane Society who sent me to the dog pound, and they said that the trucks has not come in for the day yet but to look that night on the internet and see if he was listed there. My heart was in feet by then. Sadly, I drove back home thinking I cannot find Rex.

I pulled in the drive and put my van away, and checked the neighbors garage, and REX was there!!! He had come home. So we had a nice homecoming. I patted him and gave him water and Shep biscuits and made him a little bed and he fell fast asleep while I watched over him.

So Rex has taken to the highways in the morning. My neighbor just called me and we talked about Rex's excellent adventures. I told Keith perhaps it would be good to put a leash on him in the morning so he does not run off.
Anyway, for now Rex is home and we are happy.

I surely hope I don't get a call tomorrow or a knock on my door asking if I am familiar with a little white dog! But I will probably go pick him up don't you suppose!!!

 Mother's Day

A friend of mine is celebrating mother's day! She is 90-years-old, so I sent her candy and flowers. She called and told me how thrilled she was to get the flowers and candy. She had just gotten them, and was putting them in vase, and she said it was so nice to be remembered. I told her it was my pleasure, because my mother is gone, and I cannot send her flowers, but I know she would want me to send you some. This dear lady's husband died when he was just 50. She had to go to work after that and she raised 3 children on her own. Her only daughter died very young and 2 years ago she lost her oldest son, and now only has her one son. She said it is hard for a mother to lose her children in death; because she expected to be long gone before any of her children died. But she has a sweet gentle spirit in accepting what life has brought her. She is 90 and still living along and active. She loves watching Chicago Cubs play, and golf and tennis. She cooks for her grandchildren every chance she gets. Mother's are special and mother's are precious.
What is the first thing we usually do when we go home for a visit?
We say..."Mom!" Are you there... or where is mom? A mother is always a mother. No matter how old her children are, she is still mother, mom or mama.

Mother's are so important in a child's life. She teaches by example. She teaches in her manner. She is a dear soul. Without mother's, this would indeed be a sad world.

Happy Mother's Day dear mothers!

 Cutting Back

Is anyone driving today? I was just wondering. I think my van is driving itself around because I go no where, and yet my tank stays nearly empty...
I have cut back on my insurance. Then I got a new phone service. Then I cut back to basic TV cable. I have to have connection for work on-line, so I have cable for that. I even quit my garbage service, and am recycling plastics, cans, cardboard, and more. But oh my garage is crying!!! Lady, what are you doing to me?
Now I am thinking where can I cut on the grocery bill? But I do like my coffee, and I do like my milk. I guess I like to eat too much. Ha!
Now even my poor little birds outside are on "hold" waiting for bird seed.
I know we are all feeling this burden tremendously.

I think it would be appropriate if our congress and our senate, and all the politicians would have to do what each and every one of us is doing, and then, just maybe then, they truly would understand what Americans are all about.

We give. We help. We conserve. We honor. We do what it takes to help our country. I know that we have endured hardships, and I know our ancestors endured a great deal more, but this is here and now, and it is what we know, and it is tough.

Hope all of you are getting good walking shoes, bicycles, and don't forget to take your water with you!!

We are in it together!!!
